ABOUT CYNDI
I have wanted to be a therapist for as long as I can remember. "One day, when I'm older, I'll become a therapist," I would think to myself. After multiple careers and life experiences, I finally returned to grad school, and taking that step was the best career move I've ever made. I am passionate about mental health and love what I do.
My background includes over 20 years in disability advocacy and recreation, supporting children and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities in their homes, places of work, at summer camps, and traveling around the world. My undergraduate work was primarily around sex education and sexual health, and I have been trained as a Sex Educator through San Francisco Sex Information. I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space to discuss any issues you may be experiencing, including exploring any aspect of your sexuality, gender, and/or relationships. Prior to attending California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco where I received my MA in Integral Counseling Psychology, I received my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from New College of California in San Francisco, and my Massage Therapy Certificate from Chicago School of Massage Therapy. At CIIS I received fantastic training in integrative psychotherapy and have developed a holistic approach to working with individuals of all ages. I believe the body, mind, and spirit are all essential parts of our selves, and I love knowing all of those parts of my clients. I identify as a white, queer, cisgender female. I am a strong ally and advocate for the transgender and gender expansive community, I'm body positive, and work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework. I am also a parent, trained doula, and have worked extensively with children throughout my life. I find children to be brilliant, wise, and endlessly interesting-- but I also know that parenting those same children is not always easy. I enjoy working with parents and helping families develop relationships that are positive, strong, trusting, and supportive. Last but not least, I'm an animal lover, and if we work together via telehealth, you may catch a glimpse of DJ Fuzz, Olive, Rye, or Warren, who sometimes like to make an appearance! |
